Hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving! Did you brave the crowds and go shopping super late or at the crack of dawn?

I was a little bummed about being alone yesterday but I was doing okay until after my post-eating nap. I woke up full on depressed that I was alone and had no friends or family here to hang out with. So I drove around to check out all the crazy people standing in lines. Glad I passed on those crowds. Happy Thanksgiving!! I hope everyone is having a great day!

I am missing my family today as I am celebrating Thanksgiving alone. I am so thankful for everything they have done for me lately and I can't wait to see them over Christmas!

5 things I am thankful for today:

1. Family. We don't always get along, hardly ever but I would be so lost without them.

2. Old Jobs. Thanks to working my ass off at my last two jobs, I have saved up enough money to live off of until I finally get a job. Blah.

3. Internet. It's a great time waster and it's also how I'm trying to find a job. I plan to do my Black Friday shopping on there instead of fighting the crazy crowds.

4. Friends. I may not have many of them, but I love the ones I have!

5. New opportunities. I am glad I jumped at the chance at moving and starting new. It may not be going perfect so far but I am looking forward to all the wonderful things it brings. ;)

I'm sure there is a ton of more things I should be and am thankful for but I am off to make my Thanksgiving dinner. I don't care if I'm eating alone, I'm going allll out!

I had a fabulous weekend otherwise! This post is super late but it's the thought that counts, right?

Friday night, my stuff came and it's so very lovely to have a real bed.

I started Saturday morning off by going to yoga on the beach. It was so relaxing and fun! I have done yoga videos before but I liked having the instructor right in front of me and other people around. There were also dolphins swimming a few hundred feet from the sand and it was so awesome! There were just hanging out with the surfers. I wanted to run in and go swim with them.

Saturday evening, I tried to put a dent in my unpacking. I thought packing was bad but unpacking is much worse and more time consuming!

Sunday, I went for a 14 mile bike ride. 14 MILES. Killer. Cool views though. More on that later...(maybe)

Monday--I went to Home Goods for the first time ever. Seriously, I have never been there before. I LOVED everything. I can't wait until I have a lotta money someday so I can make my home fabulous! Thank you Home Goods and Pinterest.

I also got a job interview! I did a happy dance and then almost broke my ankle fell over because of the mess. ahahaha can't you just picture it? I scream disaster.

No Snow for me :D

1. It's snowing in Iowa and not in Cali. Yippppee. I don't miss having to warm my car up 15 min ahead of time or scrapping my windows off.

I guess karma is a bitch since I rubbed the 60 degree weather in their faces..

3. My stuff should be here tonight. I will be SO glad when I don't have to sleep on an air mattress anymore. Plus it will be nice not to have an empty apartment.

4. I have not made one stinkin' friend since I have been here. I suck at making new friends and meeting people. I also do not have a job yet so I am using both of those as my excuse for eating the whole bag of almond kisses.


5. There are 3 Starbucks within a block of me. So I have went there everyday since I have no coffee maker and a gift card (good excuse, right.) It's quite delicious. And yes, there were cute boys there too. ;)

Two other randoms...
I made my first supper the other night. Spaghetti..which was a little under cooked. Yet, people wonder why I don't have a man right..

I also giggle whenever I see butter belly buttons. I really am 12 at heart.

So what if...

...I haven't introduced myself to any of my new neighbors.

...I plan to avoid them because they were fighting all night and they sounded plain stupid.

...I have been shopping too many times for house/decorating items.

...I saw this big, sexy grey truck. I am determined to find the driver. Cross your fingers that he is sexy too ;) and that it's a he.

...I have checked out every almost every guy I have seen so far. Man candy errrrryday.

...I hate this whole job search thing, just fall in my lap already.

...I had to then check out the old version. Mmmm, Patrick.....

 

...I was on the floor trying to open my bottle of wine last night. I bought a $2 corkscrew until my fancy one comes in and I couldn't get the damn thing open!! Apparently, I need to work out more. I eventually gave up and went to buy a capped wine.

Hollllla for Winesday!

First CA weekend.

 

 

I made it through my first weekend in Cali! The weather has been amazing here. Mostly in the 70's and sunny.

Friday:
I got to Cali and signed all my papers! All 46 of them..sheesh. I moved all the stuff I brought in and it was still almost completely empty!
We decided to check out the town and go to Target to buy a few things. There is seriously 5 Targets within 5 miles of it. Love it.

40 times....ick.

Saturday:
We went to Target shopping again, I think I was at Target 10 times this weekend. They are so close from each other but the price differences are crazy!!
We went down to the beach. It was a little busy and there were a lot of people surfing! Don't get me wrong, the guys are hot but those wetsuits don't show off their body very well. Ha :P
We walked on the pier. It is one of the longest in California at 1,850 feet. People are always fishing and homeless people are always trying to get money.

 


Sunday:
I took my dad to the airport and was officially on my own! I survived my first night alone and I didn't even die get robbed.

Friday With a Chance of Dust

It's Friday!

1. We made good time and I will be getting to California a day early.
 

2. Right now we are going through the middle of a forest in AZ, the elevation is over 6,000 feet. I can kinda tell a difference. My stuff also exploded all over me due to it. #awesome

There is a chance of meatballs errr dust storms.  Which doesn't make sense to me, in the middle of a forest but hey, what do I know.
 

3. Gluten intolerant + gluten packed foods = bad idea. #imanidiot - Enough said.
 

4. The views are gorgeous!! Most of the trip has been flat and boring but the few parts that weren't, were beautiful.

I didn't get any pictures but I think it's also really neat to see big cities at night. Like when you come over a hill and boom, lights sparkling everywhere.
 

5. I am ready to be out of a car. I'm excited to get there so this 25 hr car ride can be over anytime!

My great uncle is working in CA right now (he grows Christmas trees! haha) so we are going to meet up with him this weekend. I haven't seen him for about 3 years so that will be....nice.

Today is THE Day!

Tonight, I am leaving for California. I am finally making the big move! I can't even begin to tell you how excited I am!

It's a 25 hour drive so we are splitting it up into 3 days. I will get the keys on Saturday, sign all the papers, and will officially have my own apartment!!

After MUCH hassle, my stuff isn't getting picked up until Monday now and won't be delivered until the following Monday so I will be without most of my stuff for 9 days. I will be living in a mostly empty apartment for 9 days. Womp womp.

It will be interesting to see how creative I can get considering I will be without most of my dishes and no refrigerator.  I really don't want to eat out every night so I will just have to think of something.

I am hoping to meet up with a blogger I follow and find a job asap. So I will be busy with that and checking out my new town!!

I am really looking forward to the 70 degree weather they are having since it's been in the 20's here.

I'm really kinda freaking out though because it's short notice and I didn't realize how much I have left do.

Today is my last day at work at the nursing home. It is pretty bittersweet. I am ready to move on but I will miss my residents dearly!!

Fall Shenanigans

It's Monday, again. Nothing too exciting this weekend. I didn't get much checked off of my to-do list! Does this happen to anyone else often? ;)

I laid around on Sunday and watched Revenge. This show is pretty twisted yet, I just keep watching. 

I have been finishing filling out my papers for an apartment in CA. So cross your fingers that this one actually works out for me! I didn't realize how much paperwork there was! 

 I don't really love yanking all of the pumpkin guts out of pumpkins so when I found these push-ins at Target, I was sold. What a cute little potato pumpkin.

Does anyone else remember those HUGE JcPenney's catalogs that were full of toys? Well now that everyone is skipping Thanksgiving and right to Christmas, it sure brings up old memories!!!

It's Friday...Friday...Friday! Also the first day of November...cray cray.

1. Today is payday. That makes every other Friday even better!

2. I tried a Pumpkin Spice Latte for the first time this week, and it was awful!! Sorry, not sorry.

3. I ate at the local Chinese place yesterday. The sauces all have gluten but I ate it anyways. It was worth feeling like shit for a few hours. I mean it's seriously delicious!

4. I passed out Halloween Candy last night to the 6 kids that came to my house. I gave them huge handful of candy because I didn't want to be tempted to eat any. I was also pretty disappointed with their manners. They either looked at me and just stood there or said " Give me candy." Umm, what?  My neighbor said the kids were rude at her house too. What happened to please and thank you??

5. I tried a new face mask this week. It smelled weird and didn't do anything besides making me break out. So much for that idea!
