Last Night, I Had a Date..

....with myself.
I love selfies :)
Last night, I decided I was going to walk around Main Street and eat out. I have been doing well about only eating out on the weekends.

I choose In-N-Out...delicious! Everyone who doesn't have one near you should be very sad, it is so good.

I walked around Main Street and found some cute little shops to look in. I have become a pro at window shopping but I found so many cute things I could wear!

I walked out on the Pier (which was so chilly) to this little restaurant called Ruby's and got a chocolate milkshake. We are talking 620 calories of yum.

It was starting to get dark so I quickly walked my little booty back to the creepy parking garage and back to the safety of my car. :P I was the only one walking alone besides this old grandpa, BUT I don't care.

It was fun and I imagine it will be even more fun if I ever go with a friend. :)

The sunset is always beautiful at the beach! Happy Saturday :)

I Look Like a Tomato

#weekendselfie

Now that I live in California, it's expected that I am tan. So I laid out at the beach for 2 hours on Saturday and got a nice sunburn!

I was trying to ease into a tan but nope, red red red. It was only the back of my legs so I went out yesterday and got my front a little red too. At least, I match now :)

The lighting stinks but it was as bad as it looks. There is a definite line. :O
It was in the 90's this past week and it was HOT. I think it's going to be a sweaty summer without air conditioning! Hence the undies picture... #sorrynotsorry Now you can see that I don't have a booty :P

This didn't end up happening because I don't have friends who actually want to play beer pong with me. They are weird and use the term get "turned up," which is the word for get drunk in case you were clueless like me. The boys didn't like that I bought these blue balls. Guess it's a sensitive topic. :)

I have been going to church and it's the perfect place to wear pretty dresses. The one I wore this week was a little ugly but I wore it anyways :)

I think that is enough randomness for today. Have a lovely Monday, if that's actually possible!!

Saturday Showers

This is the first time there has been a "thunderstorm" since I moved to California. It's been raining here the last 4 days and it's supposed to keeping raining until tomorrow.

I say "thunderstorm" because the people of California are confused and don't understand that rain without thunder and/or lightening is not a thunderstorm. They also don't believe in putting drains on every block hence the moat surrounding my apartment. There are so many HUGE puddles around.

Luckily, I live on the higher side of my building because the low side  has water to their front steps. Not fun! They really need to figure something out. There was 100 accidents on Thursday, when there was only 2 inches of rain. I definitely avoided the freeway yesterday when it was pouring. I'd hate to be around if it ever snowed here!

"When it starts raining in So Cal, people start driving their cars into buildings." ~ Jim Rome

It also started pouring while I was at the gym and everyone stopped working out to watch the rain - while oohing and ahhing. I found it pretty amusing. I haven't seen so many people get worked up about storms before, people in Iowa don't even get this worked up about tornadoes.

I do feel bad for the people who live by the mountains though. Because of the recent fires, the mountains can't soak up the rain and the rain created a mudslide. They showed a picture on the news and there was a basketball hoop that was almost covered with mud. Crazy!

I am going to continue sitting in my warm apartment and read a book. Perfect thing to do when it's rainy. :)

First CA weekend.

I made it through my first weekend in Cali! The weather has been amazing here. Mostly in the 70's and sunny.

Friday:
I got to Cali and signed all my papers! All 46 of them..sheesh. I moved all the stuff I brought in and it was still almost completely empty!
We decided to check out the town and go to Target to buy a few things. There is seriously 5 Targets within 5 miles of it. Love it.
40 times....ick.

Saturday:
We went to Target shopping again, I think I was at Target 10 times this weekend. They are so close from each other but the price differences are crazy!!
We went down to the beach. It was a little busy and there were a lot of people surfing! Don't get me wrong, the guys are hot but those wetsuits don't show off their body very well. Ha :P
We walked on the pier. It is one of the longest in California at 1,850 feet. People are always fishing and homeless people are always trying to get money.

Sunday:
I took my dad to the airport and was officially on my own! I survived my first night alone and I didn't even die get robbed.

Places I ate over the weekend:

IHOP
The Lazy Dog
Cute dog pictures all over
Yummy gluten-free sweet and sour chicken

DQ Blizzard
Denny's
Panda Express
McDonald's

Needless to say, I can not wait to find a store with gluten free foods! I looked at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods and they didn't have much so I am still on the hunt. My body feels like it got ran over by a bus thanks to my poor eating habits. *Face Palm*

I'm really kinda freaking out though because it's short notice and I didn't realize how much I have left do.

Today is my last day at work at the nursing home. It is pretty bittersweet. I am ready to move on but I will miss my residents dearly!!

Leaving Iowa and the Memories...

I have decided that I want to move out of Iowa this summer. I really want to move to California.

I am moving there for me.

I know when I try to explain this to people, they won't understand.

As soon as they hear, California, they will think...Jacob. "Are you guys back together?" "Are you moving there to be with him?" I can already hear the questions they will be asking.

This makes me sad...

I am tired of living in Iowa. There are so many memories here of Jacob and I. I need to let go of those memories. Let go of the past. I know people won't understand that because yes, Jacob lives in California but it isn't about him anymore. It's about me.

Sure, at this current moment, I hope things may work out someday between us but I can't say for sure that it will happen. A lot of things would need to be different on both our parts. I can't wait around for him to decide if he wants this, wants to try, or that I am worth it. In 7 months, who knows how we will both feel.

I am afraid to let go, in fear that as soon as I do, he will come back. I am not a fan of big changes and I am afraid to be without him in the long run. I need to let go of that fear and focus on myself. Focus on what I want. Focus on me.

California is a big place. Sunshine and the ocean makes me happy. I understand that this probably sounds silly to a lot of people but this is something that I need to do for myself. I have no idea what my future holds right now.. I am still young and can go anywhere, so I am going too.

I know my family won't understand at all. I am not sure how they will react when last time this was brought up, I was with Jacob. They said they would not support me at all and I would be on my own. As much as this hurts my feelings, I would still go. I don't want to regret not doing something for myself just to make them happy..

I know it is going to take a lot of hard work and preparation on my part to get everything set to move. There are so many unknown factors and part of me is scared to move there. Scared to be totally on my own but I am not going to let the fear stop me any longer..

As of now, I have a general idea of where I want to live but that is about all. I do not have a big budget for a place to live and I will have to find a random job until my CNA license transfers over. I have found it really challenging to find a school over the internet as their processes are a lot different than Iowa's, so I am planning on finding a school after I have moved.

This situation isn't ideal. A few months ago, I had the next year of my life planned out and then everything crumbled. I would love to get into a school right away but I'm trying not to stress out about the little things.

I am going to put myself out there, alone, and leave my future up to God. He has a plan for me and I have to stop trying to control it myself and put it in his hands...That is so much easier said than done, but I am really going to start trying. What is meant to be, will be.

Catching up on Random Wednesday

It's hump day!! Whenever I hear people say hump day, I automatically think of...."My humps, my humps, my lovely lady lumps."

My humps, my humps, my humps, my lovely lady lumps!

This last week has been totally CRAZY. I have barely had time to stalk all my fav blogs, let alone blog myself.

I can't wait until summer when life slows down a bit! :) Of course, warm weather too. It's the first day of spring and it was 15 degrees this am! Brrrrr not loving it.

At the end of the week, I got a pedicure and manicure. It was great... Because of clinicals, I haven't been able to have painted nails for...3 months. GASP, I know ;)

I went shopping this weekend...spent wayyyy to much on only a few things.
I had quite a few fashion firsts. I bought my first pair of skinny jeans (x3) and wedges! How exciting ;)

Polka-dot shorts...wish I would have bought these!

I usually have a rule where I won't buy something if I'm not in love with it at the store. I was undecided about these shorts but now I wish I would have bought them!!

New mint skinnies :)

I am always getting the security tags stuck in my hair!
Those are my shrug lips, not duck lips, calm down haha
I've been looking for decorations in my room and I snagged this canvas at Target on clearance. Booyah...I love clearance.

I also got these frames to hang.

Raspberry Lemonade with Stoli Vodka
After shopping, I had a much overdue girl's night! We went out to eat at Red Robin and had a couple of drinks. I had the Raspberry Lemonade pictured above. It was SOO good. $6 though, so I only had one (I'm cheap).

Too many drinks ;)

I am heading out to California on Tuesday for Spring Break and I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!

Happy Wednesday everyone!!

xoxo
